It helps to transmit power from a driver to a driven shaft.
It attaches or connects segments that are separate and are individually manufactured such as a generator or an output motor shaft.
It helps with additional adaptability during transmission of power in case the space available is insufficient or limited.
It provides security in situations of over-burdening of power.
It reduces shock loads transmission which begins with one shaft to the next by using adaptable couplings.
Decoding the different types of couplers and application of each type:
As we have already mentioned earlier, electrical or power coupling is available in various types. The different types of couplers and their applications are:
Sleeve or Muff Coupling: Sleeve coupling, also known as muff coupling, comes with a male spline which insinuates with a female spline. This insinuation is done alongside an electrometric embed where the torque ranges from lower to medium. These are mostly manufactured with materials such as Neoprene and Hytrel. It is a highly powerful coupler system that is primarily used for end floating and comes with slight freedom pivotally too.
